Retail executives have said that a lack of supply is to blame for Blu-ray players sales falling 40 percent percent from January to February in the U.S. The lack of supply was apparently down to the industry being caught short with the sudden demise of Toshiba's HD DVD. According to Ultimate Electronics, Crutchfield and Bjorn's, demand for Blu-ray players has been much higher than that of standard DVD players since Toshiba pulled out of the format war. In fact, the executive VP of merchandise at Crutchfield believes that sales of Blu-ray players will over take standard sales at their stores by this August.
