Sony: GTA IV drove PS3 sales, PS2 owners upgraded to PS3

SCEA today announced that, as expected, the demand for Grand Theft Auto IV drove sales of the PS3 within the first 24 hours, continuing the strong legacy of the franchise on PlayStation platforms. Sony say they have seen a vigorous lift in PS3 console sales over this time last week and they believe the game has triggered PS2 owners to buy a PS3.
